Our favorite thing about working with clients to do full renovations is the look on their faces when they finally get a glimpse of the finished product. All the hard work, time, and energy put in to the project pays off the moment a family gets to see and celebrate their new space. Giving them the home of their dreams—it’s why we do what we do!
Recently, we got the chance to do just that for a sweet local family looking to update their kitchen. Alongside the amazing team at Renew Properties, we worked hard to give them the kitchen of their dreams. Read on for an inside look at the before and after for a little renovation inspiration of your own!
When we first met with our clients, they were thinking of just a simple refresh to their space. They wanted to paint the cabinets and maybe update some hardware for a fresher look. But then we started dreaming… What if we could create more space in the kitchen? What if we could brighten it up and let some light in? What if we could introduce more seating? What if we could figure out a way to improve the shelving and storage options? And the more we dreamed and planned and researched, the better the vision became! With a small, dark kitchen, little counter space or shelving, and limited options to gather together as a family, we decided to fully renovate and make those dreams a reality!
We really wanted to open up the space and bring some light in by brightening up the color scheme and adding some windows to invite the natural light in to the room. We wanted to maximize and beautify the space, and so we developed a plan that would truly give them an area to cook, eat, and gather together as a family. It was our goal to not only make it a standout space in their home, but also a space they really loved to use.
In terms of color, we opted to whitewash the kitchen to give it that clean, open, and airy feel we wanted. We expanded the options for storage, creating more cabinets and drawers to give them the room they needed. We also expanded the island with a beautiful granite countertop and incorporated seating around the area to give them room to gather and chat over a snack or homework. We even created a cute little coffee nook for that much needed morning and afternoon pick me up. And what’s a farmhouse kitchen without shiplap? We just had to introduce a little to give the space some texture. To top off the space, we brought in new lighting fixtures over the island, shelves, and dining area, choosing statement and standout pieces to light up the room. But our absolute favorite thing about the room turned out to be the brass accents used throughout the space. From handles to lighting fixtures, the brass gives a great pop of color against the all white backdrop.
