Your Own Little Corner Of The World

One of my favorite things to do in the mornings before everyone stirs and life gets started is to escape to my own cozy corner in my home. With a cup of coffee in hand, I steal away to read, pray, rest and mentally prepare for all that’s ahead in the day. It’s my own private escape right there in my home! While your own little corner of your world might look a little different, here are just a few of the key things I love to have to make my corner my own!

Comfy seating. A good chair is key in creating your cozy corner. It’s definitely the most essential piece for me. Combine form and function when choosing your seating. Pick something that’s comfortable but still looks great and compliments your overall aesthetic. Want to add some flair? Throw in a couple of fun pillows for a little something extra!

Cozy blankets. What’s better for comfort than a soft, cozy blanket or two? Keep a few on hand in your space to choose from when you want to get comfortable. Pick out blankets in soft hues and fabrics to compliment your space and your comfort! Worried they’ll get in the way? Bring in a decorative basket or bin to store them when they’re not in use.

Good lighting. Make sure to incorporate some candles or a small desk lamp to give you the light you need to read and relax. I love to keep overhead lighting dim in the space and rely instead on secondary light sources to keep the space lit with a soft glow. Pick out a great desk or floor lamp to give you extra lighting or go with simple candles in scents you love if you really want to relax.

Small side table. If you’re anything like me, you want your cozy corner to have room for all the accessories you need in the morning—coffee, glasses, books and more. Pick out a small table to keep alongside your seating and give you a little bit of room in your space. Be sure to choose something simple that is useable without overcrowding the area.

Something personal. You want your cozy corner to be just that—yours. So be sure to include some personal touches. If you’re like me that might include things like a devotional or encouraging book you’re reading. Or maybe it’s a journal to keep track of your thoughts and prayers. Or it could be something as simple as a picture of family or loved ones. Whatever it is, bring something in that makes you feel at home in your space!
